CNC MACHINING
CNC machining, Computer Numerical Controlled, uses horizontal lathes and vertical milling machines to create a design for machining material with high accuracy and superior quality. With a wide array of tooling available, CNC machines have allowed us to simplify manufacturing processes with a fraction of the time compared to manual machining. With our updated equipment, we are able to achieve better efficiency and greater precision compared to conventional machining.
Our CNC lathe department is equipped with 7 lathes with capacity to turn 18” Diameter x 50” Turning Length. These lathes can hold precise tolerances and desired repeatability when close tolerances are needed. Examples of parts machined would be rollers, shafts, bolts, bearing housings, spacer rings, etc. Within our lathe department, 3 of these machines have milling capabilities. This allows parts that have milled features such as wrench flats, keyways, drilled holes and hex head patterns to be finished complete on the machines as opposed to additional operations needed on other equipment.
Our CNC vertical milling department is equipped with 8 Haas mills with 40 and 50 Taper spindles with capacity to machine up to 64” X-Travel, 32” Y-Travel and 30” Z-Travel. We can machine any part with features such as face/side milling, drilling, tapping, boring, contouring and more. Our larger 50 Taper machines have 4th axis machining which allows for rotation of a part while machining. As new machines are purchased, we have added probing capabilities which allows for accurate tool probing as well as measuring machined features within a part and automated corrections within the programming.
Within these departments, programming support thru GibbsCam and SolidWorks is available as well as internal software to generate code at the machine.
Our employees are the key to our success and take pride in producing quality parts on a daily basis in an efficient manner. Combined years of experience at Kustom within our CNC department totals over 60+ years.
